There have been lots of things in the last week that I kept wanting to mention so I thought I would put it all in a ‘7 day’ blog!
Last Thursday on The Wright Stuff I wore a fabulous neon pink lipstick from MAC called ‘Candy Yum Yum‘. It was once a MAC Limited Edition colour, but by popular demand it is now here to stay!
My lips were lined with Barry M lipliner ‘Fuchsia’ – it’s a great match for Candy Yum Yum. With a strong colour it is sometimes worth using a lipliner. Mistakes, smudges, or bleeding is worse when going bold. Here is a picture of me in the lipstick, with The Wright Stuff’s very beautiful Kirsty Duffy.
Kirsty has recently gone blonde and it’s a look that I really like on her. Especially with the darker roots. I tried it myself a few years ago, but something doesn’t work well with my skintone!!
I had a facial at Dermalogica at Liberty on Wednesday – Manuel was my therapist. It was just what I needed.
I was ill in bed with a sickness bug Monday night and Tuesday daytime – and pretty much nothing makes me feel greyer and more in need of a treatment than a day being sick!
I love the Dermalogica facials because part of the hour is for relaxing, and the other part is for deep cleansing and extractions. I always see such great results, and increased brightness and clarity in my skin. The Skin Perfect Primer SPF30 is one of my favourite products of the year so far. Skin protection that glides on like velvet and leaves the skin looking even and smooth.
On Saturday I was at my cousin’s wedding in Scotland – at Cameron House, Loch Lomand. It was absolutely beautiful.
I travelled up with my sister and her youngest son Josh. We have a huge family from Scotland and Ireland, and the wedding was so much fun. I did my hair and make-up extremely early before our morning flight – and I have to say Mark Hill’s Bad Girl Glam Wicked Waver is an incredibly easy styler to use.
I used Clinique’s Two Ton Tomato Chubby Stick on my lips, and Daniel Sandler’s Radiant Sheen Illuminating Face Powder on my cheeks.
This photo is of me and my Grandfather ‘Papa John’.
Last Tuesday ‘Blusher and Blogging’, along with two other beauty blogs, has been featured in May’s issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine. I got to mention a few of my favourite things, as well as products! The Holistic Silk Eyemask – pictured below in the article, is my nightly necessity – and has been for close to 10 years!
Leah and I went to watch Celebrity Juice being recorded on Wednesday night – lots of the girls had chosen the same night to go and it was very fun. Kelly is my friend, and the show live is absolutely hysterical. I was wearing a lipstick that was brand new to me on this night, I absolutely love it, and it even tastes delicious – Avon’s ‘Pink Wink’ and fabulous RMK’s Ingenious Gel Eye Liner. Taking photos was strictly prohibited! However….
This Monday, my friend James and I went to The Crazy Coqs at Zedel’s Brasserie, to watch ‘John Standing Swings Cole Porter’. We sat in the beautiful room drinking Prosecco and listening to Johnnie singing 15 of Cole Porter’s greatest songs – with anecdotes. I absolutely loved it, and highly recommend it.
He is there on the first Monday of every month. I really enjoyed going out on a Monday – I’m going to make a habit of it. We went to Soho House for dinner afterwards – I am crazy about their macaroni cheese.
I have been reading The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff – I became enamoured with the American series ‘Big Love’ – on the subject of polygamy – as did my friend Clodagh. She was extremely kind and bought me this book. It is a fascinating subject. In the series Bill Henderson lives with his three wives – I was utterly hooked.
My favourite jewellery company Gorjana has been sending me emails with incredible offers – it’s the one company I’m actually glad to have signed up to. I can’t stop buying pieces – for me – and for gifts. They are American – but the cheapest way to buy is still directly from them, even if you are in the UK. I used to buy pieces of their jewellery in Dublin, and now to have access to their huge range, I buy from them directly. http://www.gorjana.com
Have a look at Blurb photobooks – if you want to make a coffee table photobook – these are the best that I have seen. It’s the perfect way to organise and appreciate photographs we all seem to take these days. I’ve always made mine with Photobox which do so much more than photobooks, or Apple.
Those are the best bits that I can remember from the last 7 days!
My office today was my sofa in Surrey – next to my friend’s snoring bulldog that I am looking after. He is actually the complete highlight of my week, as always.
