I had a manicure and pedicure in London today, at Neville’s Salon.

The colours that Essie has brought out for the autumn – or as phrased by Essie ‘their 2012 fall colours’ – feel perfect for this time of year.

The weather is changing – at my friend’s house tonight in Notting Hill – we have put the heating on for the first time in months.

I decided whilst in Neville’s today,  to change my hair back to brown from the sun kissed ombre that I have had for some time now!  These Essie nail polish shades work perfectly with that darker autumn look. They will be great shades for December too – they are rather festive!

I have ‘Recessionista’ on my fingernails, and ‘Stylenomics’ on my toenails. If I wasn’t currently working on a play set in the 1930’s I may well have had the shade ‘Stylenomics’ as my manicure colour! The colour in the picture above is a truer reflection of the shades than in the website pictures below.

Stylenomics is a deep grey, green – it looks almost black on the nail – a little reminiscent of OPI’s ‘Lincoln Park Afterdark’. In pictures on websites, this shade looks far, far greener, than it does when applied.

Recessionista is a muted dark grey purple, Essie describe it as magenta. It looks very similar to Essie’s colour Bahama Mama in the bottle – but is darker when applied – and has less of a red undertone. I was buying frozen yogurt tonight in Frue, by Notting Hill Gate tube station, and the lady serving me told me how much she liked the colour of my nails.

I was also tempted by the shade ‘Head Mistress’ – a raspberry red.

For me personally, some paler shades – especially browns – can be particularly unflattering against my skin tone. I steer away, but do think that they look fabulous on other people.

  1. What do you do to take care of your feet as in moisturising etc. I’m still hunting for the perfect foot cream.
