Review – Murad Hydro Glow Aqua Peel and Food Supplements

I’ve been trying out Murad’s latest launches from their ‘Hydro Glow’ range. One of my major skin issues is uneven skin tone so anything that could potentially help to address that is always something I’m very keen to try!! The peel is hydrating but also addresses skin texture and tone and although the sachets may look daunting – they are very easy to use!

Hydro-Glow Aqua Peel

The peel is a very simple two step process. You open section 1 of the packaging. Inside you will find a swab – very much like a large cotton bud. It’s already treated with lactic and glycolic acid and ready to use – wipe all over the face.

For me there wasn’t an uncomfortable feeling in the slightest – a couple of little prickles but not remotely painful. My skin isn’t hugely reactive but if your skin reddens slightly – that is just in a reaction to the acids eating away at the dead skin cells.

Open section two of the packet and carefully remove the sheet mask, unfold it and apply. Sheet masks are such a funny thing – not only do you look terrifying for 15 minutes but I find myself constantly pressing at it and making sure my face is fully covered! This is a very soothing and hydrating masque. Leave the masque on your face and remove after 15 or 20 minutes. After removing do not wash your face – massage in excess moisture.

It’s recommended to use this two step hydrating peel system 1-3 times a week. But I would say as it’s quite an expensive product to use up potentially within 10 days – use once a week – unless of course you are treating your skin for a special occasion like a wedding.Remember when you are using any products that remove dead skin cells or exfoliating acids be particularly careful to use a broad spectrum sun protector every morning.

Hydro-Glow Food Supplement

I have been really good at remembering to take these. A bottle gives you a month’s supply – take one in the morning and one in the evening. I always question food supplements for the skin, but having visited Dr Murad’s centre in California on numerous occasions and attending his talks on beauty from within – I know if he is creating a food supplement product – every bit of thought and research will have gone into it.

A Murad sponsored study over 6 weeks showed that people taking the tablets showed that –

 •85% saw more supple skin**
•82% saw more radiant, healthy-looking skin**
•79% saw smoother, firmer skin with minimized lines**

The key ingredient in the tablets is ‘N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine’, an ingredient that helps to keep a healthy, hydrated, youthful complexion – as Dr Murad explains – by acting like a building block for structural molecules such as collagen and hyaluronic acid aiding with firmness and hydration. I really like them, my skin feels very comfortable – and interestingly so do my lips which is rare at this time of year.
