One of my favourite things about the treatment menu at ARK Skincare’s Putney salon is that there is always something original and new. Last year I tried the ‘Derriere Facial’ that Tamsin Styles found in New York and decided to develop for the salon. This year the iposture Facial was launched.
The theory behind the ‘iposture Facial’ is that everybody is constantly looking down – hunched over phones, computers, desks – swiping and typing away. This is not only bad for the appearance of the neck, chest and lower face but is also terrible for posture and for upper back and neck tension.
The treatment starts with a cleanse – to remove impurities and daily grime. Whilst the face, neck and chest are gently steamed the neck and shoulders are massaged to release built up tension. ARK’s Firming Serum is massaged into the face, neck and chest – with lots of focus on the eye area. I have nicknamed this serum ‘liquid botox’ – it contains hydrating Hyaluronic Acid and Centella Asiatica which stimulates collagen and cell regeneration. The massage is extremely relaxing, I was asleep for most of it! Whilst a mask is on the arms and hands are massaged.
I would ideally like to have this treatment once a month. I have become even more aware of my bad habits with my phone and computer since having the ‘iposture Facial’. Our neck and chest often show signs of ageing before the face does – as we tend to pay less attention to them. And as a reflexologist it’s very rare to find somebody who doesn’t suffer from neck and shoulder tension – as well as bag carrying and general life stresses – the nation’s current bent forward posture doesn’t help that.
