I was invited to try a class at Shoreditch’s Frame Fitness Studio. They had teamed up with the fresh scented Aussie Shower Gel range, and my friend Ashleigh who works with Aussie on their PR told me to pick whichever ‘Frame’ class I wanted to. I chose to take a reformer pilates class because it’s my long time favourite – but there was plenty to choose from; yoga, dance, HITT, pre and post natal classes and Frame’s signature work out.
It’s cool. The whole place. Really cool. I was sad not to have found it earlier – Frame has been in Shoreditch since 2009. The beauty of Frame is that you can either buy a membership or pay ‘drop in’ prices as you go – which suits me perfectly. The class was tough, and the instructor was fantastic. When I’m back in Shoreditch next week I’m going to go again.
Shoreditch, over the past couple of years, has become the centre for health in London. Juice companies, and fitness concepts are everywhere. Around the corner at Celestine Eleven -where I do reflexology a couple of times a month – my nutritionist friend Beth runs her business ‘The Sup Luv‘ and whenever I walk through the door she hands me a cold pressed ‘Crude Juice‘, or a potion to cure my sinus troubles.
Fitness on Fire is a very reasonably priced hot yoga studio a mile away on Ironmonger Row. Pure Fitness Shoreditch is a personal training studio – packed with TRX, Kettle Bells and Olympic Rings. And at Shoreditch House I recently took a fly wheel class – think spinning, but in a darkened room, music blaring and a leaderboard at the front.
Everyone seems to be on the health kick, and at Frame – it’s not only affordable but forward thinking too. Who needs a traditional gym membership anymore? And if you need a snack which is no doubt dairy and sugar free just check the counter at the front desk. And if you need a cool workout outfit, because the one downside about Shoreditch is that that’s pretty important, then check out Frame’s packed rails.
Back to the shower gel – I was gifted Aussie’s ‘Fresh Mate’ with Eucalyptus extract and ‘Shower Smoothie’ – infused with Macadamia Nut Oil. Available at both Boots and Superdrug.
