Montana Avenue –

I mentioned Montana Avenue in my last post about the LA Dermalogica salon. It is one of my favourite streets. Quaint and peaceful – located in the city of Santa Monica. On this road there are beautiful interior shops, beauty salons, and boutiques.

Rachel Ashwell’s Shabby Chic is here – there are only four stores in the world now. Frilly Lilly is a new waxing salon from Canada – they sell individual and reasonably priced pieces of jewellery (see below for my delicate knuckle duster!).

Planet Blue sells everything from cosmetics to underwear, dresses, beachwear, jewellery – have a look at their irresistible website – I love this pom pom cosmetics bag in the picture below – http://www.shopplanetblue.com

Another shop on Montana Avenue that I could spend all day in is ‘Pom Pom Interiors’ – beautiful linen bedding and blankets. I bought a huge pom pom blanket from here last year – it is a permanent fixture on my sofa. It’s actually one of my favourite things in my house.

Rose Massage in Koreatown –

My friend Sadie and I came upon this place when we were having dinner in a nearby restaurant. There are walk-in massage places everywhere in LA, but this place was extremely good, and very well priced. I paid $40 for 90 minutes of body and foot massage. A 30 minute foot massage is $20. Koreatown isn’t miles out of the way of the ‘central’ area – it is about 5 miles east of The Grove shopping centre.

The Creek Malibu –

A little drive north, up the pacific coast highway from the direction of Santa Monica, and you come to Malibu – this is my very favourite place to spend a day when I am staying in LA. Go to Taverna Tony’s for lunch – a greek restaurant – with a beautiful terrace. There is a perfect mix of shops here for me – they have a great beauty shop called ‘Beauty Collection’ – Sephora has also opened this year and there is a great MAC store too.

Boutiques – Madison, Alice & Olivia, Planet Blue, Kitson, Malibu Lifestyles, James Perse

J Brand Outlet –

I saw a pair of J Brand jeans that I wanted to buy in Malibu when I was there with my friend Amy a couple of years ago. They were about $250. She took me to the downtown J Brand Outlet store the next day and I got them for $90. They don’t have every single jean from the range but they have enough. 90% of them are overstock, 10% are ever so slightly defected.

Golden Bridge Yoga –

I’ve been doing Kundalini yoga in LA this week, with my friend Sadie. 90 minute meditation and yoga sessions. The room at Golden Bridge is huge, it holds about 200 people – maybe more – I want to find somewhere back in the UK that I can keep practising.

Barry’s Bootcamp, West Hollywood –

I used to be a little bit addicted to Barry’s Bootcamp – I went to the original West Hollywood location – for the first time in 2004 with my friend Kelly. It’s 30 minutes of treadmill running (at the speeds and inclination that you are told to go at) and 30 minutes of weight training. I used to feel so satisfied walking out of a class at the end! I have heard a little rumour that one will be opening in London shortly! Classes run from 5am.

Griddle Cafe, West Hollywood –

Everyone loves the pancakes at the ‘Griddle Cafe’ – so much that there is often a short wait for a table – especially at weekends for breakfast.

For anyone not in the USA, and not planning to be in the USA anytime soon, my favourite website that has a little bit of everything is definitely Shopbop – http://www.shopbop.com

If you can find a place that sells Jane Iredale makeup, usually a salon or spa, I recommed trying their Just Kissed Lip and Cheek stain in Forever Pink. I just discovered it again in my bag and had to used it on my cheeks for the first time. I loved it! I had always used a poweder blush, but decided to try after reading a few of your blogs. I believe their website is in the UK too. Enjoy!
