Gold – Clinique High Impact
I had to place this in my number one mascara position after it gave me fabulously full lashes for 7 months. It didn’t become disappointingly dry or clumpy in all of that time. The packaging became extremely tatty. The product inside did not!

Silver -Benefit They’re Real
Everyone seems to be talking about Benefit’s latest mascara. Glorious volume, lift from the root, jet black colour, glossy separated lashes. I have only just started using mine, so please let me know in the comments section below if it continues to impress with longer usage!
Price – £18.50 (£16.65 at the link below – with free delivery)

Bronze – MAC Zoom Lash
My steady, old time, favourite mascara. I used to buy three of these mascaras at a time when shopping in the USA. Love the simplistic brush – love the coverage and texture – and love that it’s not hard work to get full lashes when using it. Many mascaras failed to deliver the results that I wanted and expected when buying one. MAC have more sophisticated and adventurous mascaras in their range these days – but I am remaining loyal to the Zoom.

Gold – Artdeco Dita Von Teese Gel Eyeliner
I mentioned this eyeliner, and demonstrated it, in a video recently. It lasts all day. It doesn’t dry out, as other gel eyeliners in pots that I have tried have seemed to. The brush – which of course you don’t need to buy along side it if you have something similar – gives incredible control. I love a good liquid eyeliner – it has always very much suited my eyes so I have enthusiastically tried many of them over the years – this is my current favourite.

Silver – Lancome Artliner Felt Eyeliner
Highly pigmented – it looks as strong and bold even 10 hours after application. One of my friends at work – Jen – has used this eyeliner for many years. I had to ask her which eyeliner she was using late one evening. I had been staring hard at the perfect black line – uncompromised by hours on a hot stage. It was this eyeliner.

Bronze – Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eye Liner
Easy to use pen, completely foolproof. I recommended this eyeliner to a beauty journalist in an interview and she contacted me to thank me after buying it! Create thick or thin lines, by adjusting pressure on the nib. This would be the liquid eyeliner that I would reach for if I had to do my make-up with no mirror! Free worldwide delivery at beautybay.

Gold – Daniel Sandler Watercolour
These watercolour blushers from Daniel Sandler have been a long standing favourite of mine. Fabulous colours – my favourite being ‘Cherub’. It is a liquid – bottle must be shaken – and then a couple of drops dispensed onto the back of the hand. It can then be applied with fingertips or a brush onto the apples of the cheeks. It really lasts, it doesn’t get eaten into the skin. My friend Jen – the same friend at work who uses the Lancome eyeliner – ordered this immediately after I put some onto her cheeks last week.
Price – £14.50 (lookfantastic currently have a price of £11.60 but the shade that I have mentioned is not in stock)

Silver – Crown Brush Palette
This palette offers ten gorgeous blusher shades. I am enjoying using all of them. Extremely long lasting colour on the cheeks. However not everyone wants to carry a palette with ten shades! I understand carrying a blusher in a make-up bag is what many people need and want! Great value, and ideal for make-up artists, and people who like to use a different colour every day.

Bronze – NARS in Sin
‘Sin’ is a beautiful plummy colour that I wouldn’t necessarily have reached for, eleven years ago, when a make-up artist first introduced me to it. It remains my favourite powder blusher. The entire NARS blusher range is gorgeous – have a look at all of the shades at the link below – and please note the 5 stars from every one of the 95 reviewers.

Gold – Anastasia
Preciously available only in America. I had the first one that I ever bought stolen within an overnight bag – it was such an essential for me and I was furious not to be able to easily replace it. I was delighted to find the range at cultbeauty recently. I wear the ‘brunette’ pencil in this range, and I absolutely love the texture – firm enough not to break under pressure or wear down quickly

Silver – Shavata Brow Perfector
The perfect mix and match in terms of blending and colour. Truly suitable for every eyebrow. Apply with a slim nib brush or a flat brush – the ones that come with it are perfectly good – but a longer handle can be easier to work with. It also lasts for an eternity – far longer than an eyebrow pencil would last for.
Price – £19.50 (currently £15.60 with free worldwide delivery at the link below)

Bronze – Per-fekt Brow Perfection Gel
I find I have perfect control with this mascara style brush for eyebrows. I do have quite thick eyebrows, so may be harder to use on a slimmer brow. The brush has flexibility so it’s possible to really work it into the brows. The thinner end of the brush is ideal for the pointed thinner end of the eyebrow – I use that part as I would a pencil. Of all mascara type eyebrow brushes I have tried, I like this one best.

My office today was a rather cold apartment in Torquay, Devon. I am working here at the theatre this week. I have even had to turn on an electric blanket on my bed tonight! Autumn feels like it has very much arrived. I find it hard not to recall that last year’s September 13th, was a rather warm day for me on Phi Phi Island in Thailand!
Today’s completely unnecessary beauty purchases were The Body Shop’s ‘Cucumber cleanser’ and ‘Cucumber freshening water’ – I noticed that they were being discontinued and anything with cucumber in the title sounds incredibly soothing and refreshing to me!
Have a lovely day, be it warm or cold.
